While many folks (myself included) already appealed their property taxes through the Cook County Assessor's Office earlier this year, a new, separate window is now open allowing you to appeal your property taxes through the Cook County Board of Review.
The appeal window for Riverside Township opens today, August 1st and closes on August 30th. And I'm happy to report that the folks at the Riverside Township Assessor's office make the process easy.
If you've used the Assessor's Office to appeal your property taxes before, you probably got an email like the one I received above sometime last week. Make sure you check your spam folder in case you missed it.
If you didn't receive an email or can't find it, you can email the Assessor's Office at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to include your name, address, and phone number. They will then email you a list of comparable properties along with step by step instructions on filing your own appeal online through the Cook County Board of Review.
The whole process took me five minutes to complete today which is not bad for the opportunity to save some serious money on my property taxes. I hope this quick guide helps you do the same!
Welcome neighbor and thanks for stopping by. My name is Brian Plain and I'll be your host.
