In the last two years we've called Riverside home, I've already witnessed a few impaired driving incidents on our block right in front of our home. From talking with neighbors who have been in Riverside for many years, it sounds like it can be a relatively common occurrence and an unnerving one at that.
Needless to say, I was excited when I read the recent Chicago Sun-Times article and Village release about the new partnership between Lyft, the popular ride share service, and the Riverside Police Department, which will start distributing discount cards for rides with Lyft. According to the Sun-Times article, Riverside Police Department is the first department in Illinois to partner with Lyft on an anti-DUI program. It's great to see our local law enforcement being proactive in reducing impaired driving incidents. Check out the Sun-Times article and Village release for more information. It also sounds like these discount cards could be made available at local restaurants & bars in the future. I hope this program continues to help reduce impaired driving and keep our roads safe here in Riverside. UPDATE: The Riverside-Brookfield Landmark also has a great article up with all the details.
